Organize Your Way to Better Skincare!
|
Hello Everyone!
Spring is just around the corner!
This is always the sign for me that I need to regroup and reassess my surroundings...which usually means de-clutter!
The de-cluttering process is effective in all areas of your life, but I wanted to focus on one area that is often overlooked... our skincare and make up products. If you know what products you have and they are organized in a way that is practical and convenient, it can be a real turnaround in how you view your daily skincare and makeup ritual.
Below are 5 simple steps to begin the process. Let's get started!
Step 1: Dedicate an afternoon to the task. You want to be able to take your time. Find all of your skincare and makeup products, and don't forget cosmetic bags tucked away with products stored.
Step 2: Lay everything out on the floor or tabletop. Begin separating into piles...things you presently use, things you don't consistently use but want to keep, and things you haven't used in over six months or are expired. Have an extra bag for trash.
Step 3: For skincare, your basic needs are: a good cleanser, a daytime moisturizer with SPF 15 or greater, an antioxidant and nutrient rich serum, and a good night- time moisturizer. These basics need to be displayed neatly in your medicine cabinet or vanity.
Step 4: Any other skincare products that you use, but not consistently, need to be put somewhere accessible. If there is room, display them behind your basic products, still visible and accessible if needed. Remember, if you don't see them, you won't use them!
Step 5: For make-up, throw away items that have dried out or have changed consistency. Do the same with outdated colors or items you know do not bring out your natural beauty. Make-up application should be fun, inspiring, and easy. Editing your makeup bag can really streamline your routine.
After you have de-cluttered and organized, then re-evaluate your skin's needs and decide if bringing in new items into your routine would be beneficial. Talking to your skincare specialist is a good place to start if you need guidance in determining what's next. Our skin is not static. It is always changing from outside and inside influences such as the weather, the foods we eat, and our hormones. Recognizing and becoming aware of these changes is an important step in healthy maintenance of our skin! |
