The Wellness Center: helping Tallahassee residents reach optimal health goals
With a heart for holistic health, Dr. Mignon has created a true center for wellness in our community, with different specialty centers under one roof, targeting all aspects of optimal health. Her recent 2nd anniversary celebration found her still helping Tallahassee residents reach their weight loss goals and practicing what she preaches, wellness for mind, body and spirit!
Native to Tallahassee, Dr. Mignon first left home to attain her bachelor’s degree in Virginia. She completed medical school at Tufts University in Boston and finished her residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at Yale University Hospital in Connecticut. Now a bariatric, pediatric internist, Dr. Mignon transitioned straight out of residency training into her own medical practice, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Associates of Tallahassee: Impact Health, in 2003. Comprehensive in nature, the center successfully aids the needs of both children and adults from the vision of providing high quality, comprehensive, innovative and holistic care to the whole family.
In 2008, Dr. Mignon decided to open a complimentary practice below Impact Health, aptly named The Wellness Center by Dr. Mignon, the name the whole center is known by today. Although weight management (bariatrics) is central to The Wellness Center, the practice is well-rounded and provides many products and services for overall optimal health of mind, body and spirit, including: ●massage therapy; ●hormonal and nutritional testing and counseling; ●esthetic services for face and body; ●health-conscious vitamins and food products; ●teeth whitening; ●laser hair removal; ●contour body wraps and more. Dr. Mignon explains that individualized service is important to her, and she personally administers the anti-aging diagnosis and many of the esthetic services herself, as well as overseeing her patients’ weight loss journey. She emphasizes that the combination of treatments and products yield successful results, whether the goal is to lose weight or achieve hormonal balance.
Dr. Mignon always has considered Tallahassee her home and loves giving back to the community through her work and personal life; additionally, she enjoys professional networking groups such as the Chamber of Commerce and Business and Professional Women. She was one of the three finalists in the 2010 Tally Awards, and was proud to recently host TV personality and motivational speaker Mother Love at The Wellness Center to engage patients and attendees in a lively dialogue on diabetes management. In her spare time, she loves exercising—especially through Zumba—and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Dr. Mignon’s motto is ‘Be the change you wish to see”, and as she continues to bring cutting edge products, services and learning opportunities to TWC, believes the possibilities for improving our community’s health are endless.
