America's Second Harvest say 7 million people receive food assistance any given week and that number is growing.

Thursday night, Florida A&M University's Master of Social Work program hosted a town hall meeting addressing the issues of food shortages, the rising cost of groceries and the growing epidemic of hunger not only nationwide but in our area as well.

"Hunger has no face. Hunger comes in different colors, different sizes, different shapes, different economic status. Not only the poor but even middle class. All right here in Tallahassee are feelings the effects of hunger," says FAMU Master of Social Work Student, Candy Dolcy.

Topics discussed at the meeting included how and why the cost of food is increasing, why food banks are experiencing a shortage like never before and tips on how folks can stretch their grocery budget.
