To Benefit : The 4rd Annual 5K Run/Walk to benefit Special Olympics of Florida - Leon County is scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 9AM. This family-friendly event will be held at Florida State University, starting at the Mike Long track. Your support for this event will help raise funds for Special Olympics Leon County where children and adults with intellectual disabilities train and compete in several different sports, such as Athletics (Track and Field), Bocce, Gymnastics, Golf, Aquatics, Bowling, Power Lifting, and Basketballing. Special Olympic Athletes and their families are NEVER charged fees to participate in Special Olympics programs or training. Your support is an investment in their future. Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy, and benefit from participation in individual and team sports.
