Tallahassee Film Festival

Tallahassee Film Festival
The Tallahassee Film Festival (TFF), presented by Florida Commerce Credit Union, celebrates emerging and professional film and related industry talents. The inaugural year of the Tallahassee Film Festival proved successful with 65 films screened over a three-day festival. From May 15 – 17, 2008, over 2, 500 Tallahassee and regional residents had the opportunity to learn more about the film industry through lectures, competitions and the screenings of new and exciting films from across the country. Festival goers interacted with filmmakers and related professionals in the industry at various education workshops and Q&A sessions at screenings. As an outgrowth of the Knight Creative Communities Initiative, the goal of TFF was to position Tallahassee as a breakthrough creative community with a vibrant arts and film community. Florida State University’s renowned College of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College participated and hosted portions of the festival. The 2009 festival planning is underway and has been extended to five days including more film screenings, educational seminars and community events. Highlights of the 2008 Tallahassee Film Festival: • Volunteer driven community event • 134 film submissions for the TFF Call for Entries • 65 films selected and screened over the three-day festival • Films screened at seven local venues throughout Tallahassee • 5 educational seminars and workshops offered to the public at the local universities • 18 entries for the first-ever TFF 24 HR Filmmaking Contest for amateur and professional filmmakers • TFF Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Richard Portman, Hollywood’s most celebrated sound rerecording mixers and recipient of 11 Academy Award nominations • Over 2,500 people in attendance at the film screenings, educational seminars and “It’s a Wrap” gala
