The 6th annual HAA Spring Festival to benefit Refuge House will be held Sunday, May 3rd, from Noon-5PM at Lake Ella, near Black Dog Cafe. Come be part of an afternoon filled with live music from: Eclectic Acoustic, Scott Campbell, Missus & the Walking Sticks and Bedhead Betty. Food vendors will be: 7 Hills Natural Foods, Raw Naturel and Soul Vegetarian. Table vendors will be comprised of many HAA members who offer alternative, complementary therapies for mind-body-spirit healing as well as many artists and educators.

On Thursday, May 7, Ability 1st will host the Disaster Preparedness Conference for people with disabilities, seniors and caregivers. The conference will take place at the Tallahassee Community College Center for Economic & Workforce Development. The conference will serve as a meeting ground for government and voluntary officials, people with disabilities, seniors and caregivers to discuss ways to better prepare for and react to a natural disaster. The conference is free and open to the people of Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla counties.

The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce is presenting a Lunch & Learn Series seminar Tuesday on time management with small business adviser Jerry Osteryoung.

The program begins at 11:15 a.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites Hotel, 3388 Lonnbladh Road. Attendees should bring their own lunch. Osteryoung, who is director of outreach at FSU's Jim Moran Institute, will give a presentation on time management.

A new series of gentle yoga classes will begin featuring "The Earth, The Breath, and The Spine" series developed by Esther Myers. This approach to yoga is for the beginning student to experience the principles of yoga in each posture, as well as the experienced practitioner who wishes to deepen their practice.
 

The May meeting of the 55 Plus Club will meet on Wednesday, May 13, at the United Methodist Cooperative Community Center at noon for the regular lunch and program. The program for May will be presented by Diane Tomasi from Hospice. Her topic for this special program is "Five Wishes and Advance Directives." The United Methodist Cooperative Community Center is located on Hwy 145, about five miles north of Madison. Everyone in the community 55 years old and older is invited to attend 55 Plus Club. There are no fees of any kind and no reservations are necessary.

A new series of gentle yoga classes will begin featuring "The Earth, The Breath, and The Spine" series developed by Esther Myers. This approach to yoga is for the beginning student to experience the principles of yoga in each posture, as well as the experienced practitioner who wishes to deepen their practice.

On May 16, at 9 a.m., come help celebrate the grand opening of the Georgia, Florida and Alabama Trail (GF&A) on the Apalachicola National Forest. Join the U.S. Forest Service for a short ribbon cutting ceremony and family-friendly activities at Trout Pond recreation area/GF&A Trailhead.

At the event, enjoy displays highlighting biking and other recreational opportunities, fun activities for children, and some giveaways. Light refreshments will be served.

The Trout Pond Recreation Area/GF&A Trailhead is located on Springhill Road. Look for Forest Service signs.
