Weekly Leadership Inspirations for April 26, 2010
Hello Friends,
In his book, "The 4 Pillars of Leadership," my mentor, Dr. John C. Maxwell, identifies the first pillar as "Relationships." I also consider relationships as the cornerstone in any leadership building.
Almost everything we accomplish in life is done with or through other people. No man is an island. Healthy relationships are the glue that holds any group of people together - including families, friends, organizational teams, church congregations, sports teams, etc. Solid relationships are built on mutual trust and mutual respect.
Dr. Maxwell says if we desire to be successful and to make a positive impact on our world, then we need the ability to understand others. However, I don't think I will make the time to understand others if I am focused entirely on myself or think too highly of myself.
We must remember that encouraging and giving positive compliments to others produces better results than criticizing them and pointing out their faults.
Here's my challenge for all of us this week: Let's look for what is good in others and tell them about it.
Cheers
Joe
