Videos by Rick: promotional videos for small businesses
Many small businesses start out as a hobby and grow into something more. And that is the case with Rick with Videos By Rick. In the early 1980’s, the personal video recorder came about and Rick got started early taping his family events. Soon he was using it for school projects, recording some of his army reserve events and using it in his law enforcement work.
Over the years he has saved many important memories for family and friends. One of his favorites has been to video tape his parents and other seniors. He developed an interview technique where they talk about their early life, school, church, their family and friends, their careers and special times. He explores with seniors about what life was like growing up and some about their war experiences. He has always enjoyed going back in time and capturing important memories.
Over time Rick has coupled using the Mac computer platform with that of video. The results are remarkable but what is even more remarkable is that the cost is relatively low making the use of video affordable for family, friends, and even small businesses.
And there is a great new era unfolding and it has great possibilities for small businesses. In fact Rick says, “In the past, many people with great skills, ideas or products have started business that are needed. But a great many fail . . . many due to the inability to afford marketing the business. And without customers, a business will fail.” He cites traditional advertising avenues (TV, newspapers, Yellow pages, etc.) as so costly that it drives many small businesses out of business.
But the landscape for marketing small businesses is bringing smiles to many small business owners and managers. Instead of the traditional, expensive advertising, they now have the opportunity to reach out via the Internet. Simply put, anyone can have a web page and put information about their small business on the Internet for customers to find. And yes, customers are wanting to search for their business partners. Our society is “getting on-line” and looking for businesses at all levels. It started early when restaurants and other businesses began a “web presence.” But now any business, no matter how large or small, can get a web presence that will have customers calling. Marketing is now affordable and more businesses will have the opportunity to “reach out” to their customer base.
Some small business owners have asked whether a web presence is really within their reach. Rick says, "A pretty good web site is very affordable . . . some cost as little as $5 or $10 per month to host for someone with moderate computer skills." And there are computer techs available to help you make a simple but informative web site. And, of course, use a web site that is made to show your videos. Once you have a basic web site established an informative video, you can let it work for you from month to month. No need to spend lots of money for getting your "web presence."
Wouldn’t it be great if a potential customer could find your web site and see your video about your product or service?
