Elizabeth Smith was born in Monticello, Florida, and after living elsewhere for several years, she has found herself back home in Tallahassee. Here, she opened Technology Services Group in 1996, incorporating in 1997.

After graduating from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Finance, Elizabeth took a job with First National Bank of Birmingham, AL, the lead bank of AmSouth, (now Regions bank group). She was the first woman hired into the management training program First Birmingham. Her interest in computer technologies developed later when in 1980, she joined Datamaxx USA Corporation in Tallahassee. Elizabeth married in 1982 and moved with her husband, who served in the United
States Air Force as a pilot, to Virginia. After several years as a stay at home mom, Elizabeth accepted a position at her church to teach staff how to use the WordPerfect and other computer programs. As the computer support person at that very large church, Elizabeth began to network computers and to build them from parts. From there, she accepted a position as Network Administrator in the US Department of Energy. While
there, she gained experience and certifications in Novell and Microsoft systems. In 1995, her husband was transferred to Tallahassee, and she has been here since, immersing herself in her company, Technology Services Group.

Elizabeth spends her free time with her family and friends, and particularly enjoys boating. Her husband, now a retired Air Force Colonel, is employed at the FSU Medical School. Elizabeth and her husband have two grown children, Michael and Jen, and a grandson whom Elizabeth calls the joy of her life. Jen works for her at TSG, running
office operations.

Elizabeth's satisfaction at home transcends into the workplace as well. She has a strong passion for helping small businesses succeed, and she gets to experience that daily at Technology Services Group. She loves the work ethic, flexibility, ability to be creative, and team spirit that emerge from building relationships with those businesses. Her clients appreciate the company's integrity, commitment to a job well done, and immediate responsiveness; strong relationships generate positive word of mouth referrals and keep the company growing. Elizabeth also finds importance in keeping her employees excited about their jobs; she strives to create an atmosphere in which they can grow as individuals and go home to their families every day, happy.

Elizabeth puts as much effort into the community as she does into her business. For two years, she was the chairperson of the TalTech Alliance and continues on the board of directors; she is also a member of "Leadership Tallahassee," TSAE, and the Chamber. Even her employees are all somehow involved in a community activity, particularly scouting. In addition, the company donates to various human services agencies in the
area.

Elizabeth is thankful for Tallahassee and all it offers professionally and personally. She cares deeply for her family, community, and business, and looks forward to continuing to provide outstanding services to businesses.
