Hendrickson Insurance Services: protecting the client’s commercial insurance needs
Maria Hendrickson is by nature, a nurturer. While working at Sears during her high school and college years, she developed an interest in customer service and has applied it toward all her endeavors since. Over the last 21 years, Maria has served in the insurance industry with the purpose of helping protect others. In November of 2007, she used her extensive knowledge of the field to start Hendrickson Insurance Services.
Maria, born in Denver, Colorado, moved with her family to Miami at two years old and remained there until 1984, when she decided to attend Florida State University. She and her husband of 23 years have called Tallahassee their home since. In 1987, Maria first entered the insurance industry as a secretary for Nationwide; she spent three years there before moving to Allstate. Five years later, she accepted a job within Shapiro Insurance, where she worked independently as a 1099 and managed her own clientele. 16 years later, the company merged with Brown and Brown. Though she maintained a good relationship with them, Maria decided to go into business for herself. She originally ran Hendrickson Insurance Services out of her home, but in September 2008, she leased a location better suited to help her clients.
Hendrickson Insurance Services specializes in commercial insurance. Essentially, it is Maria’s goal to protect the needs of local businesses. After 21 years in the industry, she has a high level of expertise to offer her clients. Additionally, the customer service skills she has valued since her days at Sears have contributed to the overall success of her company. As the liaison between insurance company and local business, Maria makes sure to communicate clearly and effectively with those whom she serves. She emphasizes the personal touch that her clients receive; it is important that she not just know the name of a client, but that she also get to know the client as an individual.
In addition to covering the needs of local businesses, Maria contributes to the community’s needs as a whole. She is involved with the Chamber of Commerce Leads Group 6 and is the president of the biz-to-biz chapter of Business Network International (BNI). On a more personal level, she is a member of her church. In her spare time, Maria enjoys golf, horseback riding, the beach, and of course spending time with her family.
As someone who feels compelled to nurture those surrounding her, Maria finds joy in an industry where the goal is to protect people. She loves watching her business grow and hopes to gain the community’s confidence in allowing her to address their insurance needs.
