Global Information Services: taking technology to new levels
For the past 10 years, Global Information Services has dedicated its information systems techniques to various local, national, and international clients. Recognizing the company’s heavy involvement in the always-evolving technology industry, Donna Thornton enthusiastically joined the team and has served as vice president of business development for the past 14 months.
With over 15 years in the printing industry, Donna learned the ins and outs of sales and marketing. Through her experience, she acquired additional skills in public relations, business development, and the analytical side of marketing. Her skill sets, intrigue toward new opportunities, and a suggestion from a friend eventually led her to Global Information Services. Donna had no interest in retiring yet and wanted to continue evolving with the new frontier. She loved the thought of becoming immersed in a cutting-edge career where she would get to work intimately with both people and processes.
Global Information Services focuses on information technology consulting, software development, and networking services. Through a myriad of key functions within I.T. consulting, the company’s experienced developers and analysts target the client’s specific needs and organize intended projects. The company’s software development team utilizes advanced internet, intranet, and extranet systems to assist in the customization of various products and applications; the intention is to help clients raise productivity and lower costs. The nature of competition makes networking services another critical component of the company. Global Information Services invests in the most cutting edge technology to ensure reliable, quick and efficient transmission of critical information. Overall, the networking services include design, implementation, management, support and analysis, and several advanced solutions. The company is a certified minority owned business and is registered as a federal GSA contractor. Additionally, it has several state term contracts, one of which is for Florida.
Donna emphasizes that despite the expansive range of services and products offered through Global Information Services, each specific function is handled with the utmost skill. The company takes pride in its competitive rates and tendency for consultants to exceed clients’ expectations. Donna explains that the key to pleasing clients is to first take care of consultants on the job. The company earns its positive reputation through its intimate involvement with its personnel, interest in receiving client feedback, and doing each job right the first time.
When she has free time, Donna enjoys giving back to the community she now considers home. She is involved with two main organizations. The first is Rotary International; in 2003, she became the first women president of the Rotary club of Tallahassee. In addition, she works with the Daughters of the Nile foundation, which supports the Children of Shriners Hospitals.
After working with Global Information Services for 14 months, Donna’s excitement only continues to grow; technology evolves on a daily basis and Donna enjoys being part of that perpetual development. As someone who changed industries later in life, Donna strongly believes that you are never too old to change careers and that you should never listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. She looks forward to more years of endless possibilities.
