Dale Tadlock Roofing: putting professionalism and integrity back into the industry
Dale Tadlock Roofing is about more than just putting roofs on houses and buildings. For the past 29 years, owner Dale Tadlock has dedicated his efforts toward implementing professionalism and integrity in his business and into the industry in general.
Though a native of Texas, Dale grew up in Tallahassee and decided to remain in the area to work after high school. He started his career learning how to build homes at Childers Construction. After spending two years there, he injured himself on the job and needed to take some time off. During recovery, Dale started looking into the option of pursuing a general contracting license of his own. In a twist of fate, though, he ran into an old friend who happened to be starting a new roofing company the following Monday; Dale accepted a position and spent the next year running the crew and handling the production end of the business. In that year, he became engaged to his future wife, and decided that he wanted to do more for them by starting his own company. In 1980, then, he opened Dale Tadlock Roofing.
Dale considers his business to be a full service roofing company. He and his employees provide inspections, maintenance plans, residential and commercial roofing, repairs, home insulation, and roof cleaning with an EPA approved product that is children, pet, and plant friendly. Those services just scratch the surface of what Dale provides, though. His biggest endeavor is to run his business with professionalism and integrity. He treats his employees like family and offers them various insurance coverage as well as pension plans; his employees, then, are truly invested in the company and therefore work harder to maintain the reliability in both the company and industry. In turn, this leads to satisfied customers who feel they have received a high level of value.
Dale’s commitment to making the roofing industry respected transcends past his work ethic within the company. He was also instrumental in starting the Capital City Roofing and Sheet Metal Association in Tallahassee to help further these goals, and is currently president. In addition, he is a member of the Better Business Bureau and contributes to different community organizations—like Children’s Home Society—when he is given the opportunity.
On an even more personal level, Dale is deeply committed to his family. He and his wife, Pamela, have three biological and three adopted children. They are close-knit and enjoy building memories, as Dale calls it, by spending time together either on a day to day basis or on their much enjoyed family vacations. Dale feels especially blessed to have part of his family working with him now. He admits he had always been envious of family businesses until his daughters, Jessica and Jena, made his desire a reality by joining the company.
As Dale has spent about 30 years in the roofing industry and 42 years in Tallahassee, he has developed a deep connection to both. His future goals are much more profound than just staying in business; rather, he emphasizes his hopes to use his personal company as an instrument to reinstate the professionalism and integrity back into the entire industry, and to benefit the community in the process as well.
