For three a half years now, Confidential Shredding and Recycling has been meeting the document destruction needs of Tallahassee, Thomasville, and the surrounding areas. Although AmyLynne Aldredge is the official president of the company, she and her husband each bring their own areas of expertise to the business and work as a team to succeed in all endeavors.

AmyLynne’s experience as a business owner dates back to 1992. Just out of high school with an interest in engineering, she started a construction company. Her earnings enabled her to finance a college education at Florida State University; ironically, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Humanities instead of Engineering. She sold her business and continued on to several jobs. She first worked with the Government task force for domestic violence and sexual assault; she proceeded to work in marketing with the Department of Agriculture and eventually for the secretary at the Department of Children and Families. Taking a break from the business world, she spent the next three years as a stay at home mom.

While AmyLynne pursued various avenues, her husband, Steve, stayed in the printing industry for 15 years. He worked for his parents at the Copy Shop of Tallahassee until they retired; at that point, his sister took over and he and AmyLynne decided to branch off with a complementary business. They combined his printing knowledge and her experience with heavy equipment and confidential material to create Confidential Shredding and Recycling.

The company can meet all shredding needs; services include document destruction, media destruction and paper recycling. AmyLynne always strives for top-notch professional service toward customers. She makes sure to provide accommodating schedules, even offering available hours on Saturdays, and follows-up with customers to make sure the job was handled satisfactorily. The company enforces an honesty policy from day one.

When they are not working, AmyLynne and Steve enjoy spending time as a family. Both natives of Tallahassee, they married 11 years ago and now have three young sons. They are charter members of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and AmyLynne even sings in the choir occasionally. On a professional level, AmyLynne and Steve are involved in various community organizations and events. They provide free shredding services and donate to the toy drive for the Children’s Home Society; they help the county and city with Earth Day events to promote recycling and less waste; they are also involved with Keep Tallahassee Leon County Beautiful. Their involvement varies from year to year, depending on which events are held.

AmyLynne and Steve find great joy in their business. AmyLynne jokes that nothing could be more exciting than destroying documents, as it’s an excellent method of stress-relief. Steve spent 15 years creating papers; he and his wife now hope to spend more than 15 years destroying them.
