I was a professional engineer at the Florida Department of Transportation, Engineering CADD Systems Office (ECSO) for 20 years, developing engineering/CADD applications, training engineers to use these applications, improving compatibility of data between applications, and overseeing the software used to sign and seal electronic plans. Julie Tennyson provided system support for ECSO during my last 5 years with the Department. She did system configuration, networking, backup, and maintained training room computer systems and portable training computers. Her support was outstanding. Regardless what software had to be configured for a class, it worked. When she had idle time, it was spent reading to keep up with system and network changes. Instead of fixing problems, her goal was to prevent the problem in the first place. She met her deadlines, and worked the hours needed to handle unusual tasks. I enjoyed working with Julie, she is a real professional and a great person.

I ended my thirty-five (35) year career with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in December of 2006. From April of 1997, until my retirement, I served as Manager for the Engineering/CADD Systems Office of the FDOT. The mission of the CADD (Computer Aided Drafting and Design) Office was to provide and support CADD and CADD-related technologies to engineers and engineering technicians both inside the FDOT and consulting engineers who held transportation improvement contracts for the FDOT. During my role as Manager it was my distinct pleasure to be associated with Ms. Julie Tennyson. Julie was on our technical support team and provided a very critical service, supporting an office of twenty five (25) highly technical individuals. In her role of technical support, and because of her technical expertise, Julie provided a number of support functions. In our classroom for CADD training we had 20 workstations. Julie maintained the hardware and loaded the software needed for each of the many courses taught. She loaded security patches and updates for the classroom workstations and the office engineers and technicians. She provided assistance with the loading and testing of CADD/Engineering software which included MicroStation, GEOPAK, TIMS, SourceSafe, as well as the FDOT developed software applications. Julie also served on our team of liaisons with the Office of Information Systems, making sure the CADD Office stayed in sync with the FDOT standards for operating systems, networking, and LAN email. Because of Julie’s service my tenure as office manager was much less bumpy than it would have been without her. I am grateful to have been associated with her and would highly recommend her to anyone needing technical assistance.

I have found Julie to be prompt, diligent, reliable, and honest. She accommodates our difficult scheduling needs and gets the job done correctly, often having her research done before she gets to our office. What she charges us has been reasonable and fair.

Julie is always responsive to our calls and needs. Customer service is one of her strong suites. Follow through is another strength, as whenever she tackles a challenge, she always makes certain that the loop is closed. Julie takes the time to research all aspects of a situation before making a recommendations and if she is unfamiliar with a product, takes the time to either train herself or get trained on the product.
